David Cotter
Associate Director of Institutional Research Analytics and Reporting, Institutional Research- Biography
David Cotter is the Associate Director of Institutional Research at Georgia State University. In this role, he leads the Analytics and Reporting Team (ART), driving data-driven insights to enhance the academic experience for learners and educators across GSU's campuses.
Prior to his current position, David led the production side of the Learning Analytics & Research team at the Center for Excellence in Teaching, Learning and Online Education (CETLOE) and served as Director of Communications and Data Analytics for the Center for Urban Language Teaching and Research (CULTR), both at GSU. In these roles, he oversaw data analysis, visualization efforts, and digital initiatives to support teaching and learning best practices, faculty research endeavors, and institutional-level initiatives. Additionally, David has also contributed to various professional groups, including EDUCAUSE’s Young Professional Advisory Committee, IALLT’s Survey Committee, and the Jumpstart College Corps (AmeriCorps).
David holds a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and an MBA with a concentration in Business Analytics from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
In his spare time, David enjoys outdoor adventures with his wife, exploring new events around town, and using excessive exercise as an excuse to indulge in all the decadent desserts.
