Assessment of Student Learning

Our Mission

The mission of the Office of Academic Assessment is to ensure Georgia State University’s compliance with SACSCOC and Board of Regents standards by engaging the University community in meaningful, effective, and sustainable assessment of student learning.  At GSU, we assess student learning

a)      in every degree and certificate program at the undergraduate, professional, and graduate levels, and

b)       across  the General Education curriculum.

A central element of this mission is helping program faculty to utilize assessment results in the development and implementation of strategies for continuous improvement in student learning.

How We Can Help

The Office of Academic Assessment offers one-on-one consultations and workshops for faculty and staff involved in assessment as they develop assessment plans, collect and analyze assessment data, report the findings of their assessment, and use assessment results for the improvement of student learning.  For additional ideas and resources, please explore the links to the left.


Georgia State has developed its own platform for the submission, storage, and review of assessment reports: the Student Learning Outcomes Assessment Portal (SLOAP). For more information, please visit the 2016-2017 Reporting Cycle webpage.

Members of the university community have access to all current and previous assessment reports.  Reports submitted since 2013 can be found in SLOAP.  Earlier reports, which were submitted in WEAVEonline, are available at the Report Archive.
